Tom Scott
Board Member & CFO & Interim Executive Director

Tom Scott is a founding board member of the San Diego Community Land Trust. He currently serves as the CFO and Interim Executive Director for SDCLT. He is retired. Tom previously served as the executive director of the San Diego Housing Federation from January 2002 until retiring in October 2010.
Since retiring he has served as the interim Executive Director for the Sacramento Housing Alliance, the San Diego Association of Nonprofits, the Southern California Association of Nonprofit Housing and most recently, the San Diego Housing Federation. In addition, he has been serving the community in several volunteer positions, including as a board member and CFO of the San Diego Community Land Trust; as a Director and CFO of the National Emergency Medical Services Museum; and as chair of the facilities for the Seven Oaks Community Center.
Prior to joining the Federation, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Community HousingWorks, a nonprofit affordable housing developer, from 1996 until 2002. He was President of the Board from January 1999 to January 2002. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Anchorage Neighborhood Housing Services in Anchorage, Alaska from 1986 to 1990 and President of the Turnagain Community Council, a city chartered neighborhood advisory council in Anchorage Alaska. He spent 25 years in the emergency medical services industry as a state regulator, researcher, writer, consultant and association manager.
He has a B.A. in Sociology/Social Work from LaSalle University in Philadelphia and a Master’s Degree in health policy and planning from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration. He has completed certificate programs at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
